Varicocele
Enlarged veins within the scrotum, similar to varicose veins, usually on the left side. Common and often harmless, but sometimes linked to discomfort or reduced sperm quality.
Overview
Varicoceles are found in a significant proportion of men and often need no treatment. Treatment is considered for persistent pain, testicular growth concerns in adolescents, or abnormal semen parameters in infertility.
Common symptoms
- A 'bag of worms' feel above the testicle
- Dull ache, worse with standing
- Often no symptoms
